Why does Leysieffer use palm oil in the fruit spreads?

We have always used and still use high quality raw materials for our fruit spread. They are prepared in small amounts in a 3 kg copper vessel, stirred by hand and cooked over an open fire. We also use preserving sugar, as many housewives would do, which may contain other ingredients such as palm oil which we then have to state in the list of ingredients. Palm oil is a non-cholesterol vegetable oil that limits foaming during boiling of the fruit spreads. Our grandmothers even used it when they cooked jam, potatoes or other vegetables that tended to foam.
